Occupation romaine du 1er au 4ème. Cité en 670 par l'abbaye d'Ebermunster (cour colongère), en 1083 dans les annales de Colmar, en 1154 (vieille église). Prieuré clunisien fondé en 1103. Possession des Habsbourg du 13ème au 16ème. Appartenait depuis 1454 à Vieux-Brisach (Bade), qui le vendit aux Waldner en 1756. Biesheim et l'ancien village médiéval d'Oedenburg furent détruits en 1638 par les Suédois. Oedenburg, le vicus romain succéda à un village gaulois. Synagogue détruite en 1726, parce que bâtie sans autorisation. Cité martyre en 1945 (75 % de sinistrés).
